The ever-present geomagnetic activity, and geomagnetic storms in particular, are some of the primary causes of ionospheric variability and disturbances. For this reason, we have developed a service for monitoring the local geomagnetic activity and alerting users when storm conditions are detected.

The operational service provides an index of the magnetic activity in Belgium, using measurements from both our geomagnetic observatories at Dourbes and Manhay.
In addition, individual activity indices for each observatory are also provided as a backup, in case one of them is not available.
